Watch Description
The Highlife collection isn’t really a new collection; it’s more a revamp of an existing model from the late 1990s that shared the same name. In 1999, the Highlife design was already characterised by its integrated strap/bracelet, a round case with a central lug module and a somewhat quirky dial design. Those days are gone, of course, and the new Highlife is far more contemporary, sportier and finally, it doesn’t hide its mission to compete in the ultra-competitive luxury sports watch market. This means that although some of the design cues of the past model have been retained, the collection now emits a relatively discreet 1970s aura.
With the new Highlife Automatic Skeleton, the brand adds a new, bolder and even more modern watch to its growing collection. And with this in mind, this new edition doesn’t change the formula established a year ago, starting with its distinctive design. It features the mandatory shaped case that this category requires. It also comes with integrated straps and/or bracelets and combines facets and curves. The most distinctive elements are the half-moon concave shapes found on the case, along with the sleek, thin bezel.

## Watch Summary
The Frédérique Constant Highlife Skeleton LE-888 is a sport-luxury automatic timepiece limited to 888 pieces, featuring a striking skeletonized dial that reveals the FC-303 calibre with 38-hour power reserve and central seconds hand complemented by a date subdial at 6 o'clock, housed in a 41mm stainless steel case with signature chain-pattern bezel ring and integrated bracelet for a modern Royal Oak-inspired aesthetic, targeting style-conscious collectors seeking elevated everyday versatility at an accessible price point with 100m water resistance.
## Overall Watch Rating: 7.2/10.0
**Material Metric (9.4/10.0)** - Premium stainless steel construction with double-domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal and meticulous brushed/polished finishing matches the tactile quality of Oris or Tudor divers.
**Dials & Design Metric (8.9/10.0)** - The open-worked blue skeleton dial with applied indices and integrated bracelet delivers refined sporty elegance comparable to Christopher Ward's Bel Canto series.
**Versatility Metric (8.3/10.0)** - Suitable for office-to-weekend wear with solid 100m resistance and comfortable bracelet, it echoes the all-scene adaptability of a Tag Heuer Aquaracer.
**Movement Metric (8.1/10.0)** - The skeletonized FC-303 automatic offers reliable 4Hz performance and visible mechanics akin to the visible rotors in mid-tier Grand Seikos.
**Brand Metric (7.7/10.0)** - As an established Swiss maker of value-driven luxury, it holds steady alongside peers like Oris in the entry-luxury segment.
**Rarity Metric (6.8/10.0)** - Limited to 888 pieces at around $4,200, it provides moderate exclusivity similar to many numbered microbrand releases.
**History & Innovation Metric (6.5/10.0)** - Solid heritage in affordable complications with the Highlife's fresh integrated design places it firmly with brands like Baume & Mercier.
**Complications Metric (6.3/10.0)** - The practical date window adds everyday utility on par with standard automatics from Hamilton or Nomos.
**Functions Metric (2.7/10.0)** - Basic time-and-date functionality lags behind multi-feature rivals like GMT-equipped Seikos.
## Total Performance Score (TPS): 8.5
## WM Collector Grade: A
## Performance Insights: Excels in materials, design, and versatility for sport-luxury appeal while functions remain basic, providing strong value well above its $4,200 price versus an implied $5,800 benchmark.
## TPS Interpretation: Excellent Value: The LE-888 punches above its weight with premium finishing and limited-edition appeal in the competitive entry-luxury arena.
